Preparation for Inburgering Exam: Essentials to Bring and Rules to Follow
A handy checklist to help you get ready for exam day. Discover which identification is acceptable, which items are prohibited, the test center regulations, and the locations you need to be aware of.
Understanding the guidelines and arriving prepared can considerably lower your stress levels on exam day. This guide outlines the critical do's and don'ts, the necessary items to bring, and where the sanctioned test centers are situated.
Essential Items to Bring
- Valid Identification: It is mandatory to present a valid, undamaged ID. Accepted forms include your Dutch residence permit, a Dutch/EU/EEA passport or ID card, or a Dutch driver’s license. Without this, entry will be denied, and you'll need to reschedule your exam at your own expense.
- Your DUO Letter: Ensure you have the 'oproepbrief' (call letter) from DUO, which contains your candidate number needed at the test center.
Prohibited Items in the Exam Room
- Mobile phones, smartwatches, or any electronic devices (must be powered off and stored in a locker).
- Coats, bags, or any personal items.
- Personal paper, pens, or study materials.
- Dictionaries, unless you're taking the Reading or Writing exam, where only the 'Van Dale Pocketwoordenboek Nederlands als tweede taal (NT2)' is permitted.
Exam Day Rules
- Punctuality Required: Arrive at least 30 minutes before your exam begins. Late arrivals will not be allowed entry.
- No Communication Allowed: Any interaction with other candidates inside the exam room is strictly prohibited.
- Confidentiality is Obligatory: You must sign a declaration to keep the exam content confidential. Photographing or copying questions is deemed fraudulent and can lead to your exam being voided and a possible ban.
- Bathroom Breaks: Allowed only with permission and supervision.
